Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography is a public exploration center for ocean and earth science education located in La Jolla, California. Its mission is to provide unparalleled visitor experiences that inspire conservation of the ocean and its inhabitants. The aquarium features more than 60 habitats of fish and invertebrates from the cold waters of the Pacific Northwest to the tropical waters of Mexico and beyond.
Visitors can explore tide pools, marvel at the aquarium’s kelp forests, watch sea turtles glide and even meet a shark or two. The aquarium also offers educational experiences such as hands-on activities, lectures, camps and research programs that encourage people to discover the wonders of our blue planet.
